Your child doesn’t have to put it into words in order to feel better.

Somatic-informed care meets kids where they are — through play, movement, and body awareness — helping them build practical calm without needing the words for what’s wrong.

The work

What body-based care looks like.

Emotions aren’t only felt in the mind — they’re often held or stored physically, surfacing in the body long before a child has the words for them. Somatic-informed care is a body-based approach that supports the body’s natural ability to release stress and reduce anxiety, helping children work through big emotions by paying attention to those physical sensations — not only by talking things through. As children learn to notice the body’s signals, they build awareness and practical skills that support greater emotional and physical regulation, so calm can feel more familiar over time. Clara draws on Somatic Experiencing, a well-established body-based approach, in this work.

What does this mean for your child?

Instead of asking your child to explain, we notice what their body is already showing us — a held breath, a tight belly, a restless leg — and gently help them find their way back to steady. Little by little, calm starts to feel more familiar.

Who this helps

When a child is carrying more than they can say.

Body-based support can meet children where words alone can’t always reach.

Big emotions & regulation

Meltdowns, anger, and overwhelm that feel bigger than the moment.

ADHD & sensory overwhelm

Restlessness, trouble focusing, and days that tip easily into overwhelm.
